SHARJAH (Dunya News) – Pakistan scored their first ever victory over New Zealand in the third one-day international (ODI) of the ICC Women’s Championship on Sunday by five wickets.

The match was played at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium where New Zealand made 155 runs after winning the toss and electing to bat first. Former skipper Sana Mir rattled the Kiwis batting order and claimed four wickets for just 25 runs.



In reply, Pakistan chased down the total in 48.5 overs for the loss of five wickets. Captain Bismah Maroof remained the top scorer with unbeaten 36 runs. Sana Mir (12) was the other batter who remained not out.




Although New Zealand won the three-match series 2-1, but the Green Shirts concluded it on a high note with this historic win over the Black Caps. Sana Mir was declared player of the match on her wonderful bowling performance.




Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Najam Sethi also congratulated the team and wrote on Twitter, “Another First! Our Women’s Team has beaten New Zealand for the first time and earned 2 valuable points. Pakistan Zindabad!”
